An Extra Smidgen of Action
By Elenity

Toshiya entered the room, crawled onto his chair and looked around him.
Shinya, Kyo, Kaoru, Die and Yoshiki. No new faces around. He sighed and
closed his eyes, trying to imagine how would he react whenever he got to
meet new people. They had already been in USA with Yoshiki for 3 months, and
there was still more time before they could even start to think about going
back to Japan.
It was not that he didn't like his mates in fact, he really _liked_ them-,
they were his best friends (his only friends, he realized), and he always
had a great time with them. But he needed new things in his life. He
couldn't remember when he had been more bored than in that moment... he
needed
action!
He looked to the right corner of the studio and watched as Shinya and Die
discussed some problem with Yoshiki. Shinya's red hair almost hurt his eyes,
so he centered on Die. He looked as if he had been swimming the whole night
in a swimmingpool full of wine: wine hair, wine clothes, wine everything.
Humming around with some sheets of paper was Kyo. He was surely trying out a
new song. He wondered why his bandmates had such a terrible taste for
choosing hair colors. Well, not all of them.
Kaoru was standing alone, back against the wall, dark blue hair hiding
his face. They both had almost the same colour.
Suddenly, Kaoru's cellular phone rang. Toshiya blinked at the sound the
phone
made, and then laughed. He knew Kaoru's phone could play midis, but he
had never imagined it would ever play THAT midi…
"Would you please just answer the fuxxin' phone and stop blushing like
that?", Yoshiki screamed over the laughs that filled the atmosphere of the
studio. Then he lowered his voice to keep on chatting with Die and Shinya,
but Toshiya was still able to listen to his words. "How on earth did he had
the guts to put Doraemon's midi in that machine?"
Toshiya wiped away the tears in his eyes while he made an effort to stop
laughing, otherwise he'd fell to the floor and he didn't want that in front
of Yoshiki. Once achieved, he frowned and tried to listen to Kaoru's
conversation.
"No, I'm not doing anything this evening", he was saying. "Yeah, sure. Ok
then. See you at 8 o'clock. Where?", he hesitated for a moment and looked to
the ceiling. "What about that park we saw the other day? What was its name?"
The conversation paused for a moment in which Toshiya's intense stare caught
Kaoru's, but this quickly looked elsewhere. "Ah, you're right. Then see you
at the Palm Garden at 8, ok?". Kaoru was about to hang the phone, but the
person on the other side said something and he frowned. "What's so
important? You can't tell me now? Why?", he lowered his voice, "You're such
a strange girl… See, I also have something to tell you. Important? No, no…
well… ne, see you".
He put the phone in his pocket again and headed for the place where Yoshiki,
Shinya and Die were now looking at the last SHOXX issue. They all muffled a
laugh as he approached. Kaoru rolled his eyes, grabbed another magazine and
walked to the other corner of the room. As he passed next to Toshiya, their
hands touched for an instant. When Kaoru finally sat comfortably on the
floor and opened the magazine, Toshiya eyed him again with an unfathomable
expression. The blue haired guitarist felt a smile coming out at the corner
of his mouth. "Kaoru's dating a chick", he thought to himself, "Well well".
Something was taking shape in his head, and it would at least give him a
little smidgen of action…
**************
Toshiya peered from behind the tree where he was hiding in the Palm Garden.
Nobody around. He looked at his watch and saw it was almost 8 o'clock, but
there was no sign of Kaoru or his girl.
He leaned backwards and rested his back against the tree. His eyes fixed in
his boots where a worm was trying to reach the peak. "You little nothing,
where do you think you are going?". He ducked and took the animal in his
hand. At first, it didn't move, but then regained self-confidence and
started creeping around his hand with slow movements. Toshiya found so
interesting the hide-and-seek game the worm was playing with his fingers
that he didn't notice Kaoru had arrived until he heard him humming Doraemon'
s melody. His eyes opened wide and he stood up, leaving the animal to play
with the grass instead his fingers.
Kaoru patted at his Iron Maiden t-shirt trying in vain to get all the
wrinkles
out. Toshiya bit his lower lip and waited for his girl to come. Time seemed
to stand still until a joyful scream could be listened: "Kaoru!!! I'm here!"
.
A few seconds after, a small dark-haired girl appeared and stopped her
running just in front of Kaoru. Toshiya felt his muscles tense and he waited
for an opportunity… no, he was waiting for THE opportunity, and he was sure
it was not going to take so long.
"You are late, as always", Kaoru mocked the girl.
"Oh, don't talk like that", she replied back, "I'm sure you just arrived".
She raised a hand and pointed to Kaoru's forehead with her forefinger. "Now,
tell me what what you said you had to tell me".
"No, no", Kaoru said, "you first, Susan".
"I'm always the first", she smiled shyly, "so today it is your turn now".
She hold her breath, hoping he would finally tell her what she thought he
had been about
to say so many times. They had been going out for some time now, it was time
to make things more _formal_.
"Weeeell, ok". He put one of his hands in his pant pocket and searched for
something. "What I wanted to tell you is that… Susan, listen to me", his
faced
turned serious and Susan closed her eyes, waiting. "What would you think
about…"
"…Kaoru being gay?"
Kaoru and Susan looked to each other in astonishment, then blinked a few
times, and finally turned their heads to face the blue haired guy who was
about to jump over Kaoru.
"Wha~ aaah!", Kaoru screamed as Toshiya fell upon him and planted a kiss on
his cheek.
Susan almost fainted. She grabbed the unknown's arm and stared at him, her
expression blank. "Could you repeat what you just said?"
"'Course! He's gay. He's my lover, he didn't tell you?", he smiled evilly
but his eyes had an innocent look as he talked to her. "He has always been
so shy, my poor Kaoru…" He looked at the sky with a dreamy expression, as if
remembering something *shy* Kaoru had sometime told or even made!-  to him.
"Toshiya!!", Kaoru cried. He looked at Susan for help, but all he got was
her blank stare.
"So you are gay?", Susan asked with a weak voice. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I said he's shy", Toshiya answered for Kaouru and hugged him closer, the
other man too shocked to struggle or even react.
"Susan!", Kaoru finally managed to say, "I'm not g~~ hmmmph!!!". Toshiya's
lips cut his words. Susan's jaw dropped almost to the floor.
Kaoru pulled Toshiya away and grabbed Susan's shoulders. "Hey, Susan, don't
believe this cramp. The truth is that…"
"You're gay", she stated. "That's the truth, isn't it?". Contrary to what
Kaoru and Toshiya had thought, she started laughing somewhat hystherically.
"That's the point!! I had been wondering why you never asked me for a formal
dating, I thought you didn't like something about me or I had done something
wrong", her eyes were now shining, "And, to be honest, I worried you never
tried to screw me up because I was ugly or something!", she stepped forward
and shaked poor freaked out Kaoru by his shoulders. "Now I see it was just
that you are gay! So simple!", she left him go and clasped hands. "I feel so
relieved!!"
Now it was Kaoru's time to feel his jaw dropping to the floor.
"OK, my darling", Susan said, "Just have fun and call me later. We'll go
have a drink or something and so you can tell me about all these things I
just discovered you never told me about. See you. I'm sure you will enjoy
this evening!!", she smiled broadly at the thought, and with this words she
turned around and left them, happily walking towards the bus stop.
"Su~ Susan…", Kaoru's voice was weak as he looked at her back.
Toshiya blinked to regain control over his shocked senses. He had not
expected the girl to react in *that* way, but… oh well, that made things
easier for him. A grin formed in his lips and he threw his arms around Kaoru
's neck, his mouth dangerously approaching the other man's ear. "Mmmm,
Kaoru?"
Kaoru turned his head and faced the grinning guitarist. He
arched his eyebrows and was about to say something when a hand slipped down
his back to rest in his pants. "Toshiya!"
"Huh?", he purred, huddling closer.
"I…", a shiver ran down his spine as Toshiya's lips brushed against his left
earlobe, "You… I mean…"
Toshiya drifted his attention to Kaoru's cheek, then caressed his skin until
he got to his lips. This time Kaoru didn't pull him away, so he deepened the
kiss. The body between his arms shivered.
"Ne, Kaoru-chan…"
"Uh?", the other man asked, still trying to recover from what had just
happened with Susan and from what was still happening with his bandmate.
"Susan was right.", Toshiya whispered in a husky voice.
"UH?", Kaoru said in a louder tone as the hand in his pants tightened his
grasp.
"You ARE going to enjoy this evening…"
